Professor Munir Iqbal head of the Avian Influenza Virus (AIV) group, Dr Yongxiu Yao Senior Postdoctoral Scientist & Professor Venugopal Nair OBE from The Pirbright Institute were delighted to host a delegation from China who came to hold a progress meeting of their International research collaborations and to update and discuss their joint projects.
Professor Shen The Director of Shandong Binzhou Animal Science & Veterinary Medicine Academy, who is involved with several joint collaborative research projects with Professor Nair & Dr Yao was welcomed.
The purpose of the meeting was to enable the delegates to provide an update on their projects with Partners. These projects which have been funded by the BBSRC. UK-China-Philippines-Thailand Swine and Poultry Research Initiative, CERAD, Double hundred, 111 plan Yangzhou University, a joint project with Dr Yao & Professor Nair are vital to the sustainability and provision of food for the future.
Following a full day of presentations, talks and future planning the delegation also visited Oxford University, Francis Crick Institute London and some poultry Farms to gain firsthand understanding of the research and farming in the UK.
